EASTER, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, is the most important event in the history of the world. It is the culmination of Holy Week, and what gives hope to millions of Christ-followers around the world.

That Jesus suffered under Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate and was crucified, died, was buried and on the third day he rose again are all historical facts.  Resurrection is the fruit of suffering and without resurrection suffering has no meaning. In resurrection, Christ has overcome the tragedy which he endured on the cross; it is the beginning of the new life with Christ after enduring the miseries and trials in life.

Easter is a religious festival which is celebrated by the Christians remembering the resurrection of Christ, subsequent to his crucifixion. The fundamental belief of Christians is upheld by this day.

The modern man does not realize the significance of resurrection.  Unless we are resurrected to life again, it is meaningless to take all the burdens of life to fulfill it. The resurrection of Christ shows that there is an end to all humans’ tragedies and God will rescue their repentant soul.

Easter denotes a modern living, and progress and achievements of people.  Freedom and anticipation are the twin-supporters of this achievement.  In the struggle for survival humanity becomes aggrieved and loses confidence.  This is when the significance of resurrection comes in.  In other words the secret behind all new achievements in life is struggle and suffering. When something is discovered or invented, and is presented to the society it is a fruit of great struggle and striving. Jesus assures his followers with the hope that through his death and resurrection, we are liberated and released from this world of space and time, into the discovery of the intimate reality, the being, knowledge and bliss in which the true gist of life is to be found.

In Jesus resurrection we are convinced of the insignificance of earthly life and the significance of heavenly life.  He who crucifies with his old nature, with the hope of attaining new life, will discover Christ in his true form and will leave with him forever.  The miraculous resurrection of Jesus gives us new beginning and teaches us that human life is snot created for hopelessness.  Christ the risen Lord, makes God assessable to our livers.

The message of Easter is that we should get rid of all wrongdoing and evil habits from the heart and renovated in death by overcoming suffering on the cross. This is God’s mission in Christ for man’s redemption.

The whole world is passing though crises. Violence and terrorism, injustice and exploitation attack on Christians and their institutions are on rise.   The present state of human society is largely one of economic exploitation and political opportunism. Mankind today is more or less entirely occupied with mere physical and economic existence. Scientific developments have sometimes been used for destructive purposes.

Seeing or witnessing the present exploitation in the world, man is to prevail upon wrong and have hope in his heart.  Unless a seed of what falls down, it does not sprout; it becomes putrid.  Jesus gave victory over terrific tragedy on the cross ensures a new and meaningful life to the people today.

Jesus rose from death with the message, “Peace be with you” as he lived for peace and not by the word of revenge against the people who did wrong to him. Easter is the time to welcome this great gift of Christ’s peace with all our hearts. As Easter people, we take that gift of peace seriously, and make it part of our lives, and do what we can to share that resurrection gift with others, even the whole world.
