Sports world number one Rafael Nadal will face Hugo Delenn of Bolivia in the first round of the Australian Open next week, while Serena Williams will face Anastasia Potapova in the opening match and will be trying to win the 24th Grand Slam title. The Spain star will try to match Roger Federer's record 20 Grand Slam singles titles on his least favorite court. Nadal has won just one trophy in Melbourne in 2009. According to the draw released on Thursday, they may face Australia's Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic will try to earn a record eighth Australian Open title and play against John Lennard Struff. 2019 was a great one for this Serbian player in which he won five titles including Melbourne Park and Wimbledon and ended the year at number two. Djokovic may take on young Greek player Stephanos Sitsipas in the final eight. Federer (38), trying to win the seventh Australian Open title, could be in the men's draw in the third quarter against Steve Johnson of the US, who won the previous title here in 2018.

At the same time, Serena's efforts in the women's section will be on par with Margaret Court's record 24 Grand Slam singles titles, for which the campaign will begin against the 90th-ranked Russian Potapova. She may face defending champion Naomi Osaka in the quarterfinals. Second seed Carolina Pliskova will face Kristina Maladenovich in the first round.
