EC to Announce Assembly Polling Schedule for Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland Today

New Delhi, Jan 18: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is expected to declare the Election dates for the Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland Assembly Polls 2018 on Thursday. The declaration is likely to be stated at a press meet by the poll body around 12 noon today.

Assembly elections 2018 in Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland will be held in a single phase, as per reports. The polling in all the three states is expected to be planned in February 2018.

Earlier it was reported that a four-member of the Election Commission had visited the three Poll-bound states to formulate a final evaluation.

The period of Tripura Assembly ends on March 6 while Meghalaya and Nagaland officially end on March 13 and 14, respectively. At present, Tripura is governed by the Left Front, while Nagaland is being ruled by Naga People’s Front-led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland and in Meghalaya Congress is in power...

For the moment, dates of Karnataka Assembly Polls 2018 are expected to be declared in the second week of March.

Earlier In a most important pronouncement, the EC had stated that “three dozen” apps will be launched to review the assembly Elections to take in alleviate to all the stakeholders. “We have three dozen apps that will be deployed in the pre-poll time and this poll preparation will be IT-friendly and modern to prevent any difficulty to the voters,” Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha had averred.
