EC transferred two IPC officers ahead of Lok Sabha Election in West Bengal

Kolkata: On Friday night, Just a week ahead of First Phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019, the apex poll conducting body transferred Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma and Bidhannagar Police Commissioner Gyanwant Singh citing changes in the poll preparedness. It is to be noted that EC consider to taken this step to smooth processing of election.

Here it is to be noted that according to the new information disseminated by the West Bengal Chief Secretary, the Election Commission has made Pollution Control Board’s ADG – Dr Rajesh Kumar – as the new Kolkata top cop, while appointed ADG and IGP (Operations) – Natarajan Ramesh Babu – as Bidhannagar police commissioner. As per EC order ADG and IGP will now look after their department and work further as per order.

Here it is to be noted that the official letter issued by the EC also named DC (Airport Division) of Bidhannagar – Avannu Ravindranath – as the new superintendent of police of Birbhum and 3rd Battalion’s DC KAP – Srihari Pandey – as the superintendent of police of Diamond Harbour. The EC informed about the change in transfers/postings of few officers in the state in view of the poll preparedness. This change in the authority will be amended by effective date mention on official letter.
