London: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is working on the Covid-19 protocol to hold practice matches against the United County team in the third week of July as team India prepares for a five-match Test series. Team India will play their first Test against England in Natigam from August 4. Team can play a three-day practice match against the Select County XI before that, which can be given first class status.

State that the name of 'Select County XI' was earlier 'United County'. This practice match can be held between July 20 and 22. A ECB spokesperson told the media that "we are well aware of the Indian Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)'s request to play a three-day practice match against the County Select XI to prepare for the five-match LV Insurance Test series of the Indian men's Test team."

"We are working on the Covid-19 protocol and other preparations to ensure this practice match which we will confirm in the near future," the spokesperson added. "The Emirates of Durham will reach riverside on July 15 for the camp ahead of the Team India Test series and prepare by August 1 at the same venue. After which the team will reach Trent Bridge in Natigam before the first Test starting August 4."
