The culprit has been arrested in connection with the hack of the Election Commission's portal. More than 10,000 fake voter ID cards were produced by the criminal before he was caught. In Uttar Pradesh, Saharanpur police have taken the man into custody. Saharanpur SSP S Chenappa said the criminal Vipul Saini carried out sensational hacking from his computer shop in Nakud area.
The police officer said that the criminal Saini used to log in to the Election Commission portal through the same password that the commission officials used. The Commission estimated some discrepancies and informed the investigating agencies. Saini came under suspicion while investigating the agencies and informed Saharanpur police about Saini.
SSP Chenappa said, "At the time of interrogation, Saini told him that he was working on the signal of Arman Malik, a resident of Harda in MP, and had made more than 10,000 voter ID cards in three months. A joint team of cyber cell and Saharanpur crime branch took Saini into custody on Thursday." The Saharanpur SSP said that Rs 60 lakh was found in Saini's bank account in the investigation, after which transactions from the account have been immediately banned.
