Patna: Bihar's gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate stood at 2.5 per cent in 2020-21. That's fine from the national average. This was stated in the Economic Survey report for 2021-22 tabled in the Assembly on Friday. On the first day of the budget session of the Bihar Assembly, Deputy CHIEF Minister Tarkishore Prasad presented the 16th Economic Survey of the state on the table of the House on Friday. According to it, due to the last five years, 2016-17 to 2020-21, agriculture and allied sectors have grown at the rate of 2.1 per cent in the state. Prasad also holds the responsibility of the Finance Ministry.
According to the same Economic Survey, Bihar's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) grew by 2.5 per cent in 2020-21 and even after the impact of the 'lockdown' imposed to prevent corona infection, the growth rate is better than the national average. In the last financial year, the Indian economy had contracted by 7.5 per cent. According to the survey, the per capita income in Bihar was Rs 50,555 as against India's per capita income of Rs 86,659 on account of 2020-21 at current market prices.
In the last five years, from 2016-17 to 2020-21, the primary sector in Bihar grew at the highest rate of 2.3 per cent, the secondary sector 4.8 per cent and the tertiary sector 8.5 per cent. The report states that the state government responded to the corona infection challenges with the best possible use of its financial resources. In 2020-21, the total expenditure of the state government increased by 13.4 per cent to Rs 1,65,696 crore over the previous year, which includes capital expenditure of Rs 26,203 crore and revenue expenditure of Rs 1,39,493 crore. According to the survey, due to the last five years, agriculture and allied sectors have grown at the rate of 2.1 per cent. The growth rate of livestock and fisheries was 10 per cent and 7 per cent respectively.
