New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government has extended the tenure of Enforcement Directorate (ED) Director Sanjay Kumar Mishra by a year. The 1984-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer has been given an extension till November 18, 2023, an order issued by the Personnel Ministry said. On November 19, 2018, 62-year-old K Mishra was made director of the ED for a period of two years.

Later, on November 13, 2020, the central government amended the appointment letter and his two-year term has been extended to three years. The government had last year brought an ordinance allowing the tenure of directors of ED and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) can be extended up to three years after the mandatory period of two years. Mishra was later given a one-year extension and has now been given a one-time extension.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension of the tenure of IRS Sanjay Kumar Mishra as Director of Enforcement, ED, for a period of one year i.e. till 18.11.2023 or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the order issued on November 17 said.
