New Delhi: The appeal for voluntary retirement (VRS) of Rajeshwar Singh, joint director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has been accepted. Rajeshwar Singh has informed about this on Twitter. After his tweet, there is speculation that he may contest the assembly elections on a BJP ticket. Rajeshwar Singh tweeted and wrote that this caravan of 24 years has stopped at a halt today.

"I express my gratitude to the country's PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Sitharaman, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, ED Director SK Mishra and Uttar Pradesh Police for having learnt a lot while working with these institutions for so many years. I assure all your dignitaries and institutions that I will use the education you have given me to the best to serve the people and secure the integrity of the country.''

Rajeshwar Singh, while talking to the media, said that the VRS has been approved today (January 31), I will talk about the strategy ahead, later on. Rajeshwar Singh, who started his political innings shortly by taking VRS from the post of joint director in ED, is a 1996 batch PPS officer. Rajeshwar has also held the post of Deputy SP rank in the Uttar Pradesh Police. He was also known as an encounter specialist. In 2009, he was posted at ED where many major cases were handled by Rajeshwar Singh.
