New Delhi: After a day of questioning, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) began questioning Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday for the second day in a row in connection with an alleged money laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper.

Rahul Gandhi arrived at ED headquarters with his sister Priyanka Gandhi at 11: 10 am and was detained by investigators shortly after entering the facility.

Official sources said the former Congress president, who became a Z+ category Central Reserve Police Force protectee after the Union government revoked the Gandhi family's Special Protection Group cover in 2019, was asked to join the investigation again after investigators were dissatisfied with his answers during questioning on Monday.
According to sources, the Congress leader would be questioned once more about the Gandhi family's ownership of Young Indian Private Limited (YIL) and its stake in Associate Journals Limited (AJL), the business that publishes the National Herald daily. Investigators will also inquire regarding the circumstances behind YIL's acquisition of AJL in 2010, making it the sole owner of the National Herald newspaper's assets.

The AJL published the National Herald, which was founded by India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. In 2010, the AJL was taken over by a newly-floated YIL, which included Suman Dubey and Sam Pitroda as directors, both of whom were Gandhi supporters.
