South Asian countries are witnessing the impact of covid infection on Eid. Eid ul Fitr and Bakrid are the two biggest festivals for the Muslim population worldwide. This is the second consecutive year that Eid ul Fitr has been affected by corona infection and ban.
Lockdown is in place in most parts of the country due to the second wave of corona infection in India. The markets are deserted and the common people have been banned from coming and going, which is adversely affecting the livelihood of the shopkeepers.

According to media reports, shopkeepers were expecting a good business this time but the second wave of corona infection has shocked everyone. In view of the increasing case of corona infection, people have demanded that Eid prayers be offered at home. Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Masjid in New Delhi, Dr. Mufti Mohammad Mukarram told the media that "Hospitals do not have beds, medicines and vaccines are not available, so I have demanded people to pray at home".

Pakistan have low Positivity rate: It has been revealed that strict restrictions have been issued before Eid not only in India but also in Pakistan. According to the website of Live TV News, the leading TV channel of Janha Pak, more than 19,000 people have lost their lives in Pakistan due to corona virus infection till May 11.

The Pakistan Government has declared a complete lockdown between May 8 and 16. However, people were seen buying eid in major cities. It is learnt that some lahore shopkeepers have been interviewed who complain that corona has affected shopping. The same was seen in Karachi, Pakistan's business capital.
