Bhopal: Preparations for the assembly by-election in Madhya Pradesh are at a peak and all parties are busy campaigning vigorously on their own behalf. The Election Commission is also keeping a close watch on all parties and candidates, so that no rules are violated. The Election Commission has taken action against Imarti Devi, a minister in the Shivraj government and a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, for violating the model code of conduct.

The Election Commission has banned the campaigning of Imarti Devi. The commission has banned the participation of Imarti Devi in public meetings, processions, rallies, roadshows, and media interviews for a day on 1 November anywhere in the state. In Madhya Pradesh, polling will be held on November 3 on 28 seats. The noise of campaigning in the state will also stop from today. The order issued by the Election Commission said that Imarti Devi has been acted upon under the powers given in Article 324 of the Constitution.

Kamal Nath was accused of making objectionable remarks against BJP candidate Imarti Devi from Dabra seat. The explanation was also sought from Imarti Devi on behalf of the Election Commission in this matter. Action has been taken in this matter. The Commission has so far issued notices to several senior leaders regarding their disputed rhetoric. These leaders include several names including Imarti Devi and Kailash Vijayvargiya.
