Patna: The Central Election Commission (EC) on Saturday decided to freeze the LJP symbol till the ongoing "dispute" between two factions of the Chirag Paswan and Pashupati Paras-led Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) is resolved. Election Commission sources had earlier said that 'the decision will be taken by October 4. It will be between Saturday and Monday.' The nomination process for two assembly by-election seats in Bihar is currently underway.

In fact, in this case, the election body was considering three options: 1. Freezing the party's symbol with an interim order until a final decision was taken and allowing the two factions of the party to contest by-polls on different symbols; 2. Continue with the faction of LJP President Chirag Paswan; And 3. Giving the ljpa's party symbol to the torso of Pashupati Paras.

Chirag Paswan had earlier visited the Election Commission office on Friday and demanded that the party's election symbol remain with his party. Let us tell you that one of its factions is led by party president Paswan after the LJP's split, while the other faction is led by his uncle and Union cabinet minister Pashupati Paras.
