Kolkata: The Election Commission has issued a notice to West Bengal CM and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee for violating the code of conduct. The Election Commission has asked Mamata Banerjee to respond to the notice in the next 48 hours. A BJP delegation led by BJP leader and Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi met the Election Commission on Tuesday and complained to Mamata Banerjee.
The BJP in its complaint had said that it has accused Mamata Banerjee of appealing to Muslim voters to come together and cast their votes TMC during the election campaign. The Election Commission has issued a notice saying Mamata Banerjee's remarks violated the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct. The TMC supremo had made the remarks at Tarakeswar in Hooghly district.
Talking to reporters after meeting the Election Commission, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi had said that there was a violation of the Code of Conduct in West Bengal. TMC supremo and CM Mamata Banerjee had said that Muslims should come together and vote for TMC. We have urged the Election Commission to register a case against Mamata Banerjee and take action.
