New Delhi: On Wednesday, the Election Commission has issued an order to remove the name of Union Minister Anurag Thakur and BJP MP Pravesh Sahab Singh Verma from the list of BJP's star campaigners in the case of allegedly making objectionable statements during campaigning in Delhi Assembly elections. The official has said that the Election Commission has imposed a ban of three and four days respectively for campaigning of Minister Anurag Thakur and BJP MP Pravesh Verma in case of objectionable remarks.

Meanwhile, the Interpretation Commission has taken action. According to this, Union Minister Anurag Thakur will not be able to campaign for 72 hours. With this, BJP MP Pravesh Verma has been banned for 96 hours. Along with this, the commission had asked Pravesh Verma to give a reply by Thursday by issuing a show cause notice on making a disputed statement during the election campaign.

The Election Commission has sought answers from Thakur on Tuesday in the disputed statement. In a statement issued by the Election Commission, Thakur and Verma have been asked to remove the names of BJP's star campaigners with immediate effect till the issuance of the order.
