Pune: The Election Commission and the police arrested Ramesh Kadam, a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) while recovering Rs 53.46 lakh from a flat in Ghodbandar, Maharashtra, during the raids. The Thane Police and Election Commission team conducted raids on Ghodbunder's flat on the basis of secret information.

Sharing the information of the raid, Additional Chief Election Officer Dilip Shinde said, 'Thane police raided the place along with a squad of election officials. MLA Ramesh Kadam was present in the flat during the raid. He was also present with the owner of the flat, Raju Gyanu Khare. During the raid, cash of 53 lakh 46 thousand was recovered from the flat. Police and Election Commission team took immediate action and seized the flat.

The owner of the flat Raju Khare has also been arrested. Ramesh is currently MLA and is contesting from the Mohol Assembly seat as an independent candidate.
