New Delhi: The Election Commission is meeting today to review the status of restrictions, corona infections and vaccinations at election rallies, processions and roadshows. The meeting is attended by all commissioners and deputy commissioners along with the Chief Election Commissioner. In addition, higher officials and chief election commissioners of all the five electoral states are also present at the meeting.

The meeting will be attended by the Principal Secretaries of the States, Health and Chief Secretaries, about the progress made so far on immunization and infection. After talks and discussions with them, the Commission will hold a review meeting with the Union Health Secretary and take a decision on restrictions and concessions. Indeed, the EC wants the vaccination figure to be stronger. According to sources, if campaigning for the first phase closes 72 hours in advance, like in previous elections, it may be exempt edifying a week in advance. Sources say the exemption will also be available even with restrictions. That is, the Commission will relax the reins, but still keep the reins in its hands.

According to election commission sources, the ban on rallies, processions will continue now. But there may be some concessions in other means of campaigning and in other areas. For example, discounts can be increased for things like small meetings, door-to-door contact campaigns.
