Kolkata: Voters started coming to decide the fate of 30 assembly seats in the first phase of voting in West Bengal from 7 am on Saturday. The violence was witnessed in the Purulia district late on Friday before the first phase of elections in the state. The Election Commission vehicle has been set on fire between Garu Primary Health Center and Saga Suprudi village in Bandoyan, Purulia.

It is being told that the vehicle had gone to leave the election officials at the polling station. According to media reports, a vehicle has been set ablaze under mysterious circumstances while returning to Purulia after giving food to polling personnel on Friday night. The police have started investigating the case. The driver is taken for questioning. The car that was set on fire was a Tata Magic car. The area where the fire has been set up is part of Tulsidi village in the Naxal-affected Junglemahal region. According to eyewitnesses, as the car was passing through the forest, suddenly some people came and stopped the vehicle and put petroleum material on it and set it on fire.

However, there is no news of anyone being injured in the incident. Locals reported the fire to the fire brigade. By the time firefighters extinguished the fire, the car was completely gutted. It is believed that such incidents are being carried out to spread panic in the area before the elections. Simultaneously, a bomb blast took place in a TMC office in Bankura district of West Bengal on Friday.
