New Delhi: The Election Commission does not seem to be in a mood to take any risk due to the rapidly increasing transition of the corona. So the Commission has extended restrictions on election rallies, processions and roadshows by another week. According to sources, this has been agreed upon at a meeting held on Saturday to review the status of corona infection and vaccination. Sources say the commission has given some concessions in other methods of publicity.

The meeting was attended by all commissioners and deputy commissioners along with the Chief Election Commissioner. In addition, top officials and chief election commissioners of all the five electoral states also attended the meeting. In the meeting, Principal Secretary, State Health and Chief Secretary briefed about the progress made so far on vaccination and infection. After talks and discussions with them, the Commission held a review meeting with the Union Health Secretary. After which it was decided to continue the ban. The EC wants the vaccination figure to be stronger.

According to sources, if the campaigning for the first phase ends 72 hours earlier than in the previous elections, then it may possibly be exempted a whole week before that. Sources say that exemption will be available even with restrictions. That is, the commission will relax the harnesses, but will keep the harnesses in hand.
