Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation is also preparing to give an electric shock to ordinary people struggling due to COVID-19. In a proposal sent secretly to the Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Power Corporation has said to change the slab of electricity rates. According to the proposal, it has been suggested to reduce the present 80 slabs to 53. In this, it has been proposed to make 3 slabs for urban domestic and 2 slabs for commercial, small and medium industries except BPL.

However, there will be no change in the slab of heavy industry. The change in the slab of electricity rates will put a burden on the pocket of urban consumers. This can increase the electricity bill by 3 to 4 percent. Now the ball is in the court of the Regulatory Commission which will decide on the change in the slab.

According to the information being received from the same sources, the existing proposal will indirectly affect the farmers and all types of consumers except heavy industry. Actually, currently there are four slabs for domestic consumers, which has been sent a proposal to reduce it to three slabs. Similarly, in the commercial department, a new slab of 4 kW has been fixed in place of 2 kW, reducing the rural unmetered slab. Two slabs of urban commercial have been proposed by law. Two slabs are prescribed for small and medium industries. Several changes can be made with this.
