Patna: A news story is coming out of Bihar; here, CM Nitish Kumar has announced that the general public will not be affected by expensive electricity. He said that for this, the government will give a subsidy of Rs 13,000. There will be no increase in electricity rates in Bihar. The government will bear the cost of the increase in rates by the electricity companies. In the budget session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Nitish said these things on Friday while answering the questions of the opposition.

In his address, CM Nitish Kumar said that the Bihar government is currently giving a subsidy of Rs 8,895 crore on electricity bills, which has been increased to Rs 13,114 crore. It has been approved by the state cabinet. Electricity rates will not increase in Bihar from April 1. Chief Minister Nitish once again demanded the central government implement the uniform electricity rate formula in the assembly. He said that Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan are getting electricity at the rate of Rs 4.46 and Madhya Pradesh at Rs 3.49 per unit. Whereas, Bihar gets electricity at the rate of Rs 5.89 per unit. A poor state like Bihar is getting electricity at such a high cost, yet the state government is not passing its burden on the poor.

Let us tell you that the Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission has given instructions to increase the electricity rates by 24.1 percent in the past. Aside from this, the fixed charge was also doubled. It was said that the new rates would be applicable on April 1. The opposition fiercely opposed this decision from the house to the road. However, now that the government has announced an increase in subsidies, the increased rates will not have any impact on consumers. Consumers will also be provided with electricity at the old prices.
