New Delhi: Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge created history, breaking the two-hour time for the marathon. Olympic champion Eliud has become the first athlete in the world to complete 42.195 km marathon in Vienna Park, taking an hour 59 minutes 40.2 seconds. Even before this, his name was in the list of people who completed the marathon in the shortest time of two hours one minute 39 seconds, which he made in Berlin in 2018. Kipchoge took the time running with a car and 41 pacemakers.
He had missed doing it in Italy two years earlier. He said that "I am the first person to do so. I want to inspire everyone. We can make this world beautiful and peaceful. My wife and three children are here and I am very happy for them". Kipchoge had maintained his speed at 2.50 minutes. Even after creating history, Kipchoge has not set any world record. The way the race was put together, the International Association of Athletics Federations has not recognized it as a world record.
