Elon Musk has announced the purchase of Twitter for $44 billion (about Rs 3,368 billion). Twitter's board together accepted Elon Musk's offer and the deal is set to be completed this year. After the deal is completed, Twitter will become a private company and its owner will become the richest man in the world, Elon Musk.

For the past few days, there have been constant talks within Twitter's board on Elon Musk's offer. In fact, Elon Musk says that Twitter will have to be made private for free speech and that's why he has decided to buy Twitter. Just a few days after buying a 9% stake in Twitter, Elon Musk said that Twitter will have to be private for free speech. With such a stake, he will not be able to make any significant changes to Twitter, so he offered to buy Twitter.

Interestingly, a short while ago Elon Musk had bought a 9% stake in Twitter, but now Elon Musk is going to have a 100% stake in Twitter Inc. Not only that, he has bought the company at Twitter at $54.20 (about Rs 4148) per share.
