In a significant move, Elon Musk's company, Twitter, has permanently suspended hundreds of accounts associated with Hamas, the militant organization. Additionally, the platform has taken action against hateful and misleading content, deleting it. According to Reuters, Twitter's CEO, Linda Yaccarino, announced on Thursday that the social media platform has removed hundreds of "Hamas-affiliated accounts" and taken steps to remove or label misleading content, following the attacks on Israel.

EU Warns of Removing Misleading Content: Following the recent Hamas attacks on Israel, various types of content had gone viral on Twitter, causing distress to users. This content included graphic images, violent videos, and fear-inducing material. The European Union (EU) called upon Musk and Twitter to take immediate action. The EU has recently implemented new rules under the Digital Services Act. If a company fails to comply with these regulations, it may face penalties of up to 6% of its earnings, payable to the EU. Moreover, the platform could be banned in EU countries.

A Letter from the European Union: In response to this situation, European Union Commissioner Breton wrote a letter to Elon Musk's company. In response to the letter, Twitter has taken substantial action by banning numerous accounts linked to Hamas and deleting content. These measures come as part of a broader effort to curb the spread of harmful and misleading content on social media platforms, particularly in the context of international conflicts.
