Evolution, change and transformation are the only constant, a world without them will be an underdeveloped and stagnant one. Nation building is teamwork, be it politicians, or bureaucrats or media or just ordinary citizens, each one of them plays an integral role. Over time, each of the sectors has witnessed a shift which has resulted in people understanding things in a better way. Akshay Mandalkar, who has been a part of politics since his college days is now a fully active Yuva Neta. Due to being curious about politics since a very young age, he has kept a close eye on the changing dynamics of the political spectrum in India. Akshay Mandalkar, who is the Maharashtra State Secretary of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) shares his insights about the changing dynamics of Indian politics.

If one carefully looks at the Politics in India, they would find that one of the biggest differences from the last decade is that people have risen above caste, creed or religion. Instead, they want someone who helps them move towards development. They desire a thoughtful leader who looks after their health and wellness, education, gets them employment and much more. Most importantly youth today is very much inclined toward digitization. Therefore, it is important for the government to work to develop, implement, and execute next-generation technology including artificial intelligence, blockchain, the internet of things, and many more advancements that come with time.

After handling the responsibility of the Assembly Observer during the State Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan. When I was made the AICC (All Indian Congress Committee) assembly observer of Assam, Bihar and Uttarakhand. I got the chance to observe the inner workings of politics even more closely. That is when I had the realisation that today if citizens want they can be the biggest players in the world of politics and especially in a politician's life. Just like administrators are the ‘servant of government’ in the same way politicians are the ‘public servants’. The bureaucrats are not directly answerable to the general public wherein politicians have to be answerable if something goes wrong.

Politicians being answerable to the public means that the public has an upper hand in making or breaking things. If some ‘neta’ are not performing adequately then citizens will surely take action and will not let them win in the next elections. That is why politicians should remember that a ballot is stronger than a bullet. Also, today people are becoming even more aware of fake news which means that spreading false information won’t work in anyone's favour. Instead, now everyone tries to fact-check each and every piece of news they see. Digitalization has made everyone very much familiar with social media this also assists them in knowing what is true and what is not.

Proper development of infrastructure including roads, buildings, hospitals, etc is what every citizen ultimately desires. Every person wishes that their government distributes an equal budget for every sector so that they get the highest quality of food, premium healthcare, proper roads, clean water supply, good internet and much more. After the Covid-19 Pandemic, individuals have realised how scary things can go, therefore top-class healthcare has become the topmost priority for them. Unemployment is also another issue that is very prominent, however, in the year 2021, the rate of unemployment was 5.98% which was a 2.02% decline from 2020 so that is a good thing. This also happened because the government understood the need of the hour. We all politicians with our parties have to work towards decreasing this rate even further.

Today the youth has been emerging and getting into the world of politics. With their young minds and wide thinking, they have been comprehending advancements that happen in every sector and have been trying to ultimately incorporate them. What is necessary for today’s politicians is to understand that citizens want someone who works for them. Actions speak louder than words, one might be giving big speeches but if they are not reflecting it in their work then the citizens will just replace them with someone else. If politicians along with citizens work together, which means citizens putting their faith in leaders and them proving it right, then it will ultimately make the nation grow.
