Rapper Eminem surprised everyone by performing at the Academy Awards 2020 after 17 years. He performed on his 17 years back Oscar-winning song 'Loose Yourself'. In the year 2003, he had decided that he would no longer attend the ceremony and his award was won by Louise Resto from legendary actress-singer Barbara. In an interview with the media, Eminem, whose real name was Marshall Mathers, revealed the circumstances under which he performed.

The rapper said, "I felt that I couldn't get a chance to do it then, maybe this time it would be good to do it. Talking about the old days, I didn't think I could get a chance to win and we just took some of the Oscars held the week before, performing on Root's 'Loose Yourself', we felt that the idea was not good. And also, being young at the time, I didn't feel that because of a show people will judge me".
He added, "But then when I found out that I had won, it was 'crazy' I realized how real and authentic this award is, when you don't express it, you still win. While there, he told that he is very happy to come to the Oscars this year."
