Srinagar, Today, two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of south Kashmir. According to a police official, "Security forces launched a search and cordon operation in Newa area of Pulwama district following information about presence of militants in the area".

The militants hiding inside a house were asked to surrender but they chose to open fire on the security forces positions, he added.

Official said, "two security force personnel were hurt in the operation, and the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants was being ascertained."
