1 militant killed in encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian

Shopian: In an encounter between security forces and militants in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir, one militant has been killed in an encounter with the army. The encounter took place in Narbani area of Shopian where the situation was found to be hiding in an apple orchard and two to three terrorists were suspected to be holed up on the spot. With whom the encounter is going on, the security forces are continuing.

The body of the slain terrorist is yet to be recovered. According to security forces, the bodies of the slain militants will be recovered after a search operation. Sources said, some militants had taken shelter in an apple orchard in Shopian area to avoid an operation all-out against the militants in the valley. On Friday morning, a special operation of Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched and one terrorist was killed by the troops.

The army is said to have launched a search operation in search of the militants after the apple orchard was cordoned off and the army succeeded. A senior official involved in the operation said that the militants had started firing after they surrounded themselves by security forces. In spite of this, the security forces have appealed to the terrorists to surrender.
