Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy has termed the encounter of accused in any crime as wrong. Roy has given this response after the police encounter the four accused in the Hyderabad case. Roy said that punishment should be given by the court in any criminal case.

In his statement he said, 'I can never accept that an encounter can ever become a standard procedure for justice in criminal cases. People should be arrested, presented before the court, chargesheet should be filed and the court will give the punishment which will be justified. But, taking people out and shooting them is not right. '

For your information, let us tell you that the four accused who raped and murdered a vet in Hyderabad were killed by the police in an encounter. According to the Telangana police, the accused were taken to reconstruct the crime scene on National Highway-44. During this time, the accused tried to escape from police custody. After this, the police opened fire on them. In this encounter, the four accused died on the spot.

Many people applauded this encounter of the police and many also questioned it. While former cricketers and celebrities like BJP MP Gautam Gambhir, National Commission for Women and Baba Ramdev endorsed it, on the other hand Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi called it for the society.
