JAIPUR: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) told the Delhi High Court on Thursday that Robert Vadra needs to be detained and questioned as he is "directly related to the links in the money transactions". The ED told Justice Chandra Shekhar that Vadra, the son-in-law of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, is not cooperating in the investigation of the money laundering case against him.

Vadra's lawyer rejected the claims of the investigating agency, stating that whenever the agency called his client, he would appear before him and he had fully cooperated in the investigation. The lawyer also said that his client answered the questions that the ED asked and that "not accepting" the allegations levelled against him does not mean that he is not cooperating.

After hearing the arguments, the Delhi High Court has fixed November 5 for the final debate on the case. The lower court had approved Vadra's anticipatory bail, which the ED has challenged in the Delhi High Court. Vadra is accused of money laundering in the purchase of property worth Rs 17 crore at 12, Bryanston Square, London.
