Sterling-Biotech case: ED reaches house of Congress leader Ahmed Patel

New Delhi: Enforcement Directorate (ED) is tightening its grip on Ahmed Patel, a veteran Congress leader and former political secretary of Sonia Gandhi. The ED team has reached Ahmed Patel's residence, where he is being questioned in connection with the Sterling-Biotech case. Ahmed Patel had expressed his inability to remain present for questioning citing the circumstances arising out of the coronavirus, his age and health.

According to the information, Ahmed Patel is being questioned under the Money Laundering Act. During the investigation, a key witness in the Sandesara case was said to have made revelations regarding the relationship between Chetan Sandesara, Ahmed Patel, his son Faisal Patel and his lawyer Mumtaz, who is going to marry Irfan Siddiqui. Sunil Yadav, an employee of the Sandesara group, alleged that Irfan Siddiqui used to visit the Pushpanjali firm in New Delhi with Sandeshra Group director Chetan Sandesara. Chetan Sandesara also used to visit Irfan's residence in Vasant Vihar. According to the allegations, Chetan used to hand over huge amounts of cash to Irfan Siddiqui.

Sunil also revealed during interrogation that Chetan Sandesara used to visit Ahmed Patel's mother Teresa Crescent Roadhouse. Ahmed Patel's son Faisal also used to go on wreath forms to celebrate the party with his friends. During a party, Faisal spent Rs 10 lakh.
