Panaji: The Directorate of Prevention (ED) has seized 7,975 square meters (sq m) of land worth Rs 3.19 crore by Sandeep Arjun Vajarkar, the sarpanch of Goa. The sarpanch is accused of having captured this land by deception. Sandeep Arjun Vajarkar is the sarpanch of Bardez taluka of Socorro village in Goa. A criminal case was registered against him by the Goa Police. After which the ED has seized the land of the sarpanch under the Money Laundering Act.

The Goa Police received a complaint from the Managing Committee of Serula Komunidade (Land Association), after which they filed a complaint against Sandeep Wajarkar as well as his family members AC Lobo (former Attorney of Serula Kommunidade). Investigation revealed that Sandeep Arjun Vajarkar and his brother Shivdas Arjun Vajarkar had fraudulently taken over the land of Serula Kommunidade. It is being told that this land was purchased in the name of late father Arjun Mahadev Vajarkar and later transferred it to his family members and his name.

The ED said that it has also been found in the investigation that the filing of the land was done in the name of the rejected person. The documents that were submitted with it were fake. For this land, the former Attorney of Serula Kommunide issued a No Objection Certificate ignoring the rules. No order was taken from the state government in this regard, whereas it is necessary in the land transfer case.
