London [United Kingdom], Sep 12 (NT): India once again in the last test match went down against England by 118 runs at the Oval on Tuesday.

However  KL Rahul (149 off 224 balls) and Rishabh Pant's (114 off 146 balls) brave resistance was appreciated but all went in vain as astounding centuries from both the batsmen almost made it assured that India would rescue some lost pride and register an unlikely win. But England skipper had the last laugh as his team won the series 4-1.

England leg-spinner Adil Rashid hastened India's all hope with his deadly blows. The 30-year-old English bowler eradicated the well-set Rahul in the most excellent manner, breaking a good 204-run partnership. Rashid with his tremendous performance removed Pant in his very next over. Therefore England could register a thumping win. The English Team gave opener Alastair Cook a well deserving farewell, who played his final test.

India under captaincy of Kohli suffered a new low down with the Oval Test defeat as this is the first time since their 0-4 crush against Australia in 1991-92.

But Indian skipper Virat Kohli ended up the series as the highest run scorer by a comfortable margin. In 5 Test matches,Virat Kohli scored 593 runs at an average of 59.30 including two tons.
