According to reports from one of India’s most renowned Institution, the Delhi University (DU), English has been found to be the most aspired subject of all.
As many as 1,26,327 students have applied for BA (Hons.) in English. Students growing interested towards the language and literature is evident from the figures.
After English, the second most sought course is BA (Programme), with 1,05,818 applicants in the University.
As many as 1,05,590 applications were received by the University regarding BA (Political Science), with BA (Economics) receiving 96,709 applications.
The least no of applications received by the University were regarding vocational courses, such as 49,378 applicants for BA(VOC) Tourism Management, and also 53,207 for BA (VOC) Human Resource Management.
Amongst the most unpopular courses, psychology ranks third, with just 57,584 applications received by the University.
The Delhi University opened its portals for registrations for the various courses on May 15 and the portals were closed on June 7.
The university has, till date, declared as many as 5 cut off lists. The first list amongst these was issued on June 19.
According to ton sources, DU has received more payments this year than the previous year.
This year it has received payments from 2,78,544 aspirants while last year the number of aspirants who made the payment was 2.20 Lakhs.
