New Delhi: The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) on Friday launched an online facility for the employees of the organized sector to create a Universal Account Number (UAN) now. With this, employees will be able to get UAN by themselves online. Currently, employees had to apply for UAN through employers. Now it can be made on its own from the EPFO website.
Along with this, EPFO has also introduced the facility of downloading other pension related documents like Digilocker for pension payment order for 65 lakh pensioners. Labor Minister Santosh Gangwar launched both these facilities here on the 67th foundation day of EPFO. He also started e-inspection. It is noteworthy that recently some media reports said that the EPFO is considering increasing the pension age limit from 58 years to 60 years.
For this, changes are being made in the EPF Act 1952. The major reason behind changing this is being told about the age fixed around the world. In most pension funds of the world, the age of pension has been fixed at 65 years, so there is a preparation to change it. If EPFO takes this step, the retirement age of employed people can also increase by 2 years. After approval from the board, the proposal will be sent to the Labor Ministry for cabinet approval.
