New Delhi: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has taken a major decision to provide relief to its consumers from the impact of the second wave of corona epidemic in the country. According to it, subscribers will be able to avail non-refundable covid advance for the second time also. State that the Government had in March last year facilitated EPF subscribers to take advance under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY). Under this, subscribers could withdraw 75% of the deposit in their PF account or equal amount of salary of three months (Basic and DA) whichever is less.
In a release issued today, the Labour Ministry said that in a bid to provide relief to its subscribers from the second wave of corona, the EPFO has allowed its members to withdraw another non-refundable Covid-19 advance. That is, members who have withdrawn advances from their PF accounts can withdraw one more advance amount to deal with corona related expenses last year. According to the Ministry, the relief has been announced in view of the corona crisis as well as the impact of black fungus.
According to the statement, corona advance has greatly helped epf members during the epidemic. Especially members whose monthly salary is less than Rs. So far 76.31 lakh employees have taken corona non-refundable advance. 18,698.15 crore as advance. EPFO has taken special steps to expedite the settlement of claims to the members so that the money can be credited to the subscriber's account within 3 days of the application.
