Islamabad: Two days after the abduction of three paramilitary Frontier Corps personnel in Pakistan's Tank district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the bodies of two of the abducted have been found. The incident, which took place on July 9, involved suspected Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants.

The victims, Constable Habib Khan from Tank district and Frontier Corps employee Inamullah from Benti in Kadi Marwati, Tank, were discovered dead in the Shaheed Murid Akbar area of Kadi Hyder, Tank. They had been abducted while traveling from the Sor Qamar FC post to Tank Bazar when militants intercepted them at a checkpoint between Kot Azam and Kot Qila. The militants took the three personnel and handed over their ATM cards and identification documents to the civilian driver whose car they had hired. In a shocking series of events, around ten military personnel, including a captain, and two police officers, including an inspector from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), have been killed over the last 48 hours.

On Wednesday, a joint operation by the Pakistan Army and counterterrorism police resulted in the deaths of three militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The clashes erupted during an intelligence-based operation in the Hassan Khel area of Peshawar. During the exchange of fire, two Pakistan Army personnel, including a captain, and several CTD officers were killed. Pakistan’s Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that four security personnel were killed in the conflict. This month has seen a surge in violence, with 14 Pakistani security personnel, nine militants, and eight civilians killed so far.
