On Friday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, who paid floral tributes at Periyar's statue at Anna Salai in Chennai, was accompanied by his cabinet colleagues and MPs, TR Balu and Kanimozhi. On the 143rd birth anniversary of popular rationalist leader EV Ramasamy, the Chief Minister said Periyar sowed the seeds of social justice in the minds of the people. The Minister administered the oath to the officers and employees in the Secretariat that they would follow the ideology of social worker based on social justice, self respect, rationalism and equality. Stalin said EV Ramasamy's birth anniversary (September 17) would be celebrated every year as Social Justice Day.

He tweeted, "On such a wonderful birthday, I took a pledge for social justice. Entire Tamil Nadu took a pledge. We will establish an egalitarian society on your path." In another tweet, the chief minister said, "Today, on his birthday, we pay tribute to Periyar, the rationalist who sowed social justice in the minds of people in all walks of life. Tamil Nadu was revived only after his birth." It was done. It became a society of dignity and knowledge."

Stalin had said that Periyar's ideology was about social justice, self-respect, rationalism and equality, which laid the foundation for the development of Tamil society during the last century and would also pave the way for the future. A panel will be constituted for The CM said that the panel will ensure that social justice is implemented and guidelines for the same will be issued soon. If violations are found, appropriate measures will be taken.
