Guwahati: Assam CM and BJP's firebrand leader Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said Hindus facing crisis outside India are welcome in the country as India is a Hindu-dominated country. He also claimed that everyone in India was a Hindu before the Babur era. On a question related to CAA, Sarma said, "India is a Hindu-dominated nation. If a Hindu is suffering outside India, you are welcome in the country. India is the root cause of every Hindu. Before the Babur era, everyone was a Hindu. '
He further questioned why those who talk about the construction of temples are seen as communal. Sarma said, 'Why only the temple? What is wrong if the old temples are rebuilt and redeveloped? We are Hindus, we will be Hindus. As a Hindu, I am more secular. Sarma had earlier insisted in July that Hindutva is a way of life and claimed that followers of most religions are descendants of Hindus. Hindutva started 5,000 years ago and cannot be stopped. The veteran BJP leader said this at a press conference to mark the completion of the second month of his government in the state.
CM Sarma said, "Hindutva is a way of life. How can I or anyone stop it? It has been flowing for ages. Almost all of us are descendants of Hindus. Even a Christian or a Muslim has descended from Hindus at some point or the other.'
