On Thursday, April 11, Voting is currently underway for the first phase of Lok Sabha Election 2019. Ninety-one constituencies spread across 18 states and two union territories will vote in this initial phase. Thousands of voters queued up in front of their polling stations to cast their franchise. Reports of EVM malfunction is also coming in from several polling booths. States going to polls on Thursday, April 11 are Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, and UTs Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep. The results of the general elections will be declared on May 23. The EC has said that timing of vote would be from 7 am to 6 pm in general constituencies, from 7 am to 5 pm in northeast parts of the country except Manipur and Nagaland where it would be till 4 pm.

Here it is to be noted that Reports from Uttar Pradesh coming in of several EVM malfunctions. Reports say that at least 100 EVMs have been replaced so far at different places in the state. Another massive Election Voting Machine (EVM) malfunctioning is being reported from several polling booths in Andhra Pradesh where voting for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are underway. While technical glitches in EVMs delayed voting at many polling booths early Thursday, a candidate of Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena was arrested for allegedly damaging an EVM in Anantapur district.

EVMs are not functioning at many places in Andhra Pradesh. The glitches left people waiting in long queues. Several booths in Kuppam Assembly constituency from where Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu is contesting also reported malfunctioning EVMs. Technical teams were on the job to rectify the defects and enable polling.
