The open category tally is maintained at 50%. The IBPS refused to comment but the Former Madras High Court judge K Chandru said there was no legal sanctity for the move. The SBI, that implemented the EWS quota in last year recruitment, reduced the open category recruitment and others left unchanged. The Judge said if IBPS cuts the quota of reserved candidates it is a blatant opposition of the constitution. The IBPS had recently invited applications for filling vacancies in Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Punjab and Sind Bank and UCO Bank. On October 3, 10 and 11 the preliminary examinations were conducted and the main exam and personal interview will be conducted based on the results in prelims result. The number of vacancies for which applications has been called for is 1417, 300 for OBC (27% requirement), 196 under SC/ST, 89 were reserved (6%). 142 posts (10 per cent of the total vacancies) have been allotted for EWS. About 50 per cent of the posts (690 vacancies) have been left for the unreserved category.
