Ex Congress MP Sushmita Dev Quits Party, Sends Letter To Sonia Gandhi

Former Congress MP Sushmita Dev on Monday quit the party. She wrote a letter to chief Sonia Gandhi. The change in her Twitter bio to “Former Member” of the party was the first clue this morning that she has quit.

Sushmita Dev’s written letter to Sonia Gandhi reads as follows: “Please treat this letter as my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress. I cherish my 3-decade long association with the National Congress. May I take this opportunity to thank the party, all its leaders, members and workers who have been my memorable journey.” She further stated: “I thank you personally for your guidance and the opportunities you gave
me. I value the enriching experience. I hope I have your good wishes as I begin a new chapter in my life of public service.”

Sushmita Dev's letter offered no reason for her quitting the Congress, her party of 30 years, simply saying she was “beginning a new chapter of public service”. She headed the Congress's women's wing, the All India Mahila Congress.
