NEW DELHI: A former IAS officer, Shah Faesal from Jammu & Kashmir was detained by the police at Delhi airport on Wednesday. He was sent back to Kashmir. He was on his way to Istanbul. Shah quit his IAS job this year and joined politics. He founded the Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement Party. Shah has been re-arrested under the People's Safety Act (PSA) after reaching Srinagar.

Shah Faesal is in the limelight due to his controversial statement after the removal of the provisions of Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. "We have two paths to Kashmir either to be Kashmir puppets or separatists. There are no other options. Earlier, he had made a statement on lockdown in Kashmir and said that 80 lakh population has never been imprisoned as it is today. Shah Faesal, who is ranked top in the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services, quit his JOB to join the Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement. Shah Faesal was a political ally of former MLA Engineer Rashid.

Engineer Rashid was arrested in connection with the terror funding case. Linking his resignation to the so-called Muslim persecution in Kashmir and various parts of the country, Shah said that there is a lack of credible political initiative in Kashmir, which I am opposing. It is important for me to respect the lives of the Kashmiri people. After the removal of Section 370 from Kashmir, the Government is taking utmost care there.
