Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu announced the expansion of Digi Yatra services to nine new airports across India. The expansion is aimed at improving the air travel experience for passengers by integrating advanced technology.

In a recent social media update, Kinjarapu shared the news, stating, “We are pleased to announce the expansion of Digi Yatra services to nine new airports in the country, enhancing the travel experience across India. Our commitment to integrating technology aims to make air travel more seamless and efficient for passengers.”

Kinjarapu emphasized that this initiative aligns with the government's goal to maximize the aviation sector's potential and provide world-class experiences. “This initiative is a step forward in our broader vision to elevate the Indian aviation industry and deliver world-class experiences to travellers,” he added.

What is Digi Yatra?

Digi Yatra is a paperless travel initiative developed by Hyderabad-based startup Dataevolve Solutions, in coordination with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India. The app utilizes facial recognition technology to verify passenger identities at various checkpoints, such as check-in, security, and boarding gates, eliminating the need for physical document verification.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation explains that passengers can now proceed through many airport checkpoints without physically presenting their tickets, boarding passes, or identity cards. The Digi Yatra-ID integrates this information, streamlining the process and reducing wait times.

The MoCA highlights that Digi Yatra offers a seamless, contact-less, and hassle-free travel experience, aiming to reduce waiting times and expedite processing for all air travelers in India.
