New Delhi: India is currently reeling under a dangerous wave of corona virus and has become the epicenter of the global crisis. Hospitals in the country lack beds, oxygen. Amidst all this, experts have warned that an additional 5 lakh ICU beds will be required in the next few weeks as per the situation that is taking place in India.

Renowned surgeon Dr Devi Prasad Shetty says that according to the current wave, India will need 5 lakh additional oxygen beds in the next few years, as well as 2 lakh nurses and 1.5 lakh doctors. According to the doctor, India currently has between 75,000 and 90,000 ICU beds, most of which have been filled. This is the case when this wave of corona has not yet reached its peak. Dr. Shetty, Chairman, Narayana Health Institute, which runs 21 medical centres in India, has said that testing is currently declining in India, with 10-15 lakh people infected with corona per day in India as per the current trend.

This allows you to determine the situation, so it is very important to arrange new ICU beds. According to Dr Shetty, not only beds but staff also need to be increased. According to the current trend, two lakh nurses, 1.5 lakh doctors need to be increased additionally. Because the current status can last for the next 4-5 months.
