Dehradun: Experts have warned the Uttarakhand government to lift all corona restrictions for devotees arriving at Haridwar Mahakumbh. They said religious programs can increase the risk of infection in the latest wave of corona. In fact, Cm Tirath Singh Rawat of Uttarakhand has declared that it would not be mandatory to bring a negative report of covid-19 during the event.
CM Rawat told the media, "devotees feared that if their Covid-19 report is not negative, they would not be allowed to enter. On this, he said that the report is not required." He said, 'about 32-33 lakh devotees have left for their homes peacefully by participating in the first 'Shahi Snan."' Former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, who resigned recently, said that the state government needs to be vigilant amid rising corona cases. In 2021, 25,000 cases of the highest infection have been registered on Sunday, so we need to be more vigilant in organizing the Kumbh.
The number of daily covid-19 cases in the hilly state has been increasing steadily in the last week. On Monday, 52 covid-19 cases have been reported in the state. On March 11, on the occasion of Mahashivratri, on the first "Shahi Snan" at Mahakumbh, the Uttarakhand government has removed of mandatory covid-negative certificate for admission here. The number of people attending the event was about three times more than the estimated number with the covid-19 restrictions.
