New Delhi: India had expressed its displeasure over Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's remarks about the farmer movement. Now Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has decided not to go to a proposed meeting with Canada to deal with the coronavirus. According to media reports, New Delhi has informed Ottawa that the Indian Foreign Minister will not be able to attend the meeting on 7 December.

Anti-India rallies have started in Canada after Justin Trudeau's statement. India had warned that the Canadian PM's statement on the farmers' movement would increase the anti-India rallies there. The talk of organizing demonstrations, rallies and marches against agricultural laws in India has come to light in Canada.

Canadian High Commissioner Nadir Patel was summoned in the country's capital Delhi on Friday by the Foreign Ministry and gave a strong message. India said that Canada's PM Trudeau's comment could affect the relationship between the two countries. In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Canada PM Trudeau's comments like these have "encouraged" extremist activities outside the Indian Mission in Canada.
