New Delhi: The Modi government at the Centre has written to Facebook asking it to provide information on algorithms and procedures used by the social media company. The move also assumes significance because recently revealed Facebook's internal papers show that the company is facing a problem of misleading information, hate speech and celebration-related content on violence in India, its largest market.

According to media reports, social media researchers have underlined that there are groups and pages that are 'full of misleading, inflammatory and anti-Muslim content.'
