For the past two months, there has been a ruckus about their content policy on Facebook and Twitter. This ruckus started when a tweet by US President Donald Trump was fact-checked by Twitter and it was misleading, although the same post of Trump shared on Facebook but Facebook did not fact check. Later, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg criticized Twitter for the fact check. Now Facebook has said that it will put warning signs on all the posts which fall in the 'news category' of all the leaders including the post of President Donald Trump will be contrary to its rules.

Unilever, a European company that offers brands such as Ben & Jerry and Dove, has announced a boycott of advertisements on Facebook by the end of this year, accusing Facebook of hate speech and divisive discourse. After this company, Coca-Cola also announced a boycott of Facebook for at least 30 days. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg refused to take action against some disputed posts of Trump, saying that people have the right to listen to the statements of the leaders.

In contrast, Twitter had put warning signs on these statements. On Friday, Trump's post on which Twitter has put warning signs, Facebook did not take any action on them, which was criticized by Trump's opponents and current and former employees of Facebook, but now if the President violates the rules, Facebook is ready to face it. Zuckerberg announced a change in policies on his Facebook page. He said, "The policies that are being implemented today are aimed at addressing the challenges that our country is facing today." Zuckerberg said that the social network took additional steps to deal with misleading information related to elections. It is said Facebook would also ban false claims that discouraged voting.
