New Delhi: The lies spoken by Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra in her speech in the Lok Sabha on Thursday (February 3, 2022) have been exposed by the people. In fact, Mahua, during her speech in the Lok Sabha, had claimed that Jammu and Kashmir have now been replaced with Hindi as the first and official language. Addressing the House in the Lok Sabha, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra said, the President's Address refers to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on several occasions.

Referring to a speech by Netaji in Comilla (now Bangladesh) in 1938, the TMC MP said, 'Communalism has raised its ugly head again.' She said that the insignia of Subhash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army (INA) was the tiger of Tipu Sultan. The same Tipu Sultan whose mention has been removed from the syllabus by the Modi government. The TMC MP further said that 'INA's motto was three Urdu words – Etihad, Etmad and Qurbani (unity, faith and sacrifice). This is the same Urdu language, which has now been replaced with Hindi as the first and official language in Jammu and Kashmir and the government is extremely happy to do so.' After her speech, Mahua Moitra came under the target of social media users. Users checked their facts on a public platform.

In fact, from 1957 onwards, there were two official languages in Jammu and Kashmir - Urdu and English. Of which Urdu had the status of the official language and English was used for official practice. English was maintained due to its use in the legal and legislative fields, the status of the official language. In September 2020, the central government fulfilled the years-old demand of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Lok Sabha had on September 22 given the green signal to the Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Bill, 2020. It talked about giving the status of the official language of Jammu and Kashmir to Dogri, Kashmiri and Hindi. Home Minister Amit Shah had termed the passage of the bill as a very important day for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. According to it, along with Urdu and English, which have already been given the status of official languages, Dogri, Kashmiri and Hindi were also made the official languages of Jammu and Kashmir. It is to be noted here that Dogri, Kashmiri and Hindi were also made official languages, but Urdu was not removed from this status, as Mahua Moitra had claimed in her speech. So, Mahua Moitra's claim turned out to be absolutely baseless.
